About All-Star Saturday

Celebrating 25 Years of Community, Talent, and Tradition

All-Star Saturday is a long-standing community celebration held every Easter Saturday at the Bruce Howard Recreation Center in Columbus, Ohio. Since 1999, the event has grown from a local youth basketball showcase into a full-day experience that brings together families from across Central Ohio.
Originally created to spotlight the top players in one of the city’s most competitive youth leagues, All-Star Saturday quickly became a marquee event. Players are selected from four age groups—6–8, 9–11, middle school, and high school—and compete in a series of high-energy All-Star games throughout the day.
While basketball remains the heartbeat of the event, All-Star Saturday has evolved into a full community celebration. Each year kicks off with one of Central Ohio’s largest Easter Egg Hunts at 10:00 AM, followed by five All-Star games, halftime entertainment, and a Slam Dunk Contest during the high school game.
Families enjoy a range of free activities including face painting, balloon artists, prize giveaways, and live performances—making it an unforgettable experience for kids of all ages. Last year, the event welcomed over 1,500 attendees, and this year, we expect to surpass 2,000.
Admission to All-Star Saturday is always free, with complimentary food and refreshments served throughout the day. The event is hosted by the Metropolitan Youth Foundation of Central Ohio, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting underserved youth through education, fitness, nutrition, and community programming.
We’re proud to mark our 25th Anniversary on Saturday, April 19, 2025, and continue the legacy of giving back, uplifting youth, and uniting our community through joy and celebration.
